Armenia, Turkey and Switzerland have announced protocols for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia which include these unacceptable provisions:

• Forming an historical commission aimed at questioning the historical record of the Armenian Genocide.
• Confirming the illegal and immoral border between Turkey and Armenia which resulted from the Genocide.
• Questioning Artsakh’s independence and considering concessions to Azerbaijan as a precondition to opening this border.

While borders can be opened and closed effortlessly, these compromises by the government of Armenia can not be retrieved so easily.

On September 19, 2009 at 12 pm, Armenian-Americans will be converging on New York City at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations to protest the protocols. The ARF of Philadelphia is organizing travel to New York City leaving from the Seroonian Community Center at 8:00 am on Sept. 19^th. Join us in voicing our opposition.

Zahle Night at the Seroonian Armenian Community Center a Great Success!

On August 28th, the Seroonian Armenian Community Center was transformed into the finest cafe` in Zahle, Lebanon.  Over 100 guests of all ages came to enjoy the night.  The outside of building was decorated in a lovely array of flowers, a waterfall and even a centerpiece statue of  “Athra Mariam Astvazazin,” bringing an authentic feel of being in Lebanon.   The mezze and dinner featured Lebanese specialties like “kebe neea,” also known as chekefta, fatoush, hummus, kebob and many other authentic dishes. Guests complimented their meals by drinking Beqaa wadi Arak while taking in the delicious smells of Zahle and listening to the recordings of Ferouz, a famous Lebanese singer.
